MARIN COUNTY, CA – When a Marin-area mother suffered a medical emergency in the early morning hours on Saturday, her 6-year-old daughter, Catherine, known as “Cacky” by family and friends, bravely came through calling 911, aiding responding paramedics and even reminding officers to turn off the lights as all departed the home.
So impressed by Cacky, Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at her home over the weekend to present her with a “Super Star” certificate, noting her extraordinary response to a stressful situation.
Early on Saturday, at about 2:48 a.m., Cacky’s mother was having “a medical emergency ” and the little girl used her mama’s cell to dial 911 and relay to dispatchers that “her mommy needed a doctor, an ambulance or the police because she was not acting right,” the agency said.

“Once on scene, Cacky was amazing,” deputies said. “She remained calm and was able to point out everything the paramedics needed. She was full of energy and asked that we call her daddy to come pick her and her 7-year-old brother up. Cacky even asked us to make sure we turned off the lights in the house before we left.”
Over the weekend, deputy Fahy and Sgt. Alipio presented her with a signed certificate and an MCSO teddy bear.
“Thank you for being brave Cacky!” the department said. “You are a hero in our books! And a huge standing ovation to Cacky’s parents for making sure she knew what to do when something doesn’t feel right!”
