New Japan Pro Wrestling has officially sold out Osaka-jo Hall for their upcoming Dominion event, set to take place on June 9th with two of the biggest main events in the promotion’s history.

Ticket sales have been steady since the event went on sale at the end of April, but with the official announcement that Kazuchika Okada will once again defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Kenny Omega, and the addition of several other key names, New Japan’s second biggest show of the year will set the all-time attendance record for its annual Dominion event.

Osaka-jo Hall can hold up to 16,000 people, although that number is expected to be between 13,000 and 13,500 by the time it is modified for professional wrestling. For comparison, last year’s NJPW Dominion event drew 11,756 people for the second match in the Okada/Omega rivalry, which famously went to a legitimate 60-minute draw. The sell-out is even more impressive when you consider that the first Dominion in 2009 only drew 5,800 people at the much smaller Osaka Prefectural Gym, and that number may have even been slightly inflated.

Also announced for this year’s show is the highly anticipated match between IWGP Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito and Chris Jericho, who recently returned to the company at the end of the NJPW Wrestling Dontaku tour to brutally assault and bloody the Los Ingobernables leader. Rey Mysterio will also be in action, and English commentary will be provided by Kevin Kelly and Don Callis, as per usual.
