HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball head coach Loren LaPorte and senior pitcher Megan Good jointly announced Wednesday that Good will be sidelined for the 2018 season due to an undisclosed knee injury.

“I love our team, and it’s hard for me to think about not playing with them this season,” Good said. “But, I’ll still be an active part of the team all year with the goal of another CAA Championship and NCAA bid, and I can’t wait to be back competing with my teammates in 2019.”

Due to student-athlete privacy, JMU coaches and staff will provide no further details of the injury.

Good was named the 2017 Schutt Sports / NFCA Player of the Year following an record-breaking junior campaign. The right-handed hurler led the nation in victories with a 38-3 record nation-best 14 shutouts, both of which are JMU single-season records. She ranked third nationally with a 0.63 ERA, which is a JMU single-season low. Dangerous on both sides of the ball, Good led JMU with a .383 average at the plate with a career-high 69 hits. She headed the Colonial Athletic Association with 58 RBIs, the third-most over a single season in JMU history.
