La Gazette du centre Morbihan reports that free agent midfielder and ex-French international Yoann Gourcuff has obtained a tennis licence.
The 33-year-old has been without a club since leaving Ligue 1 side Dijon in January – he now obtains a licence to play competitive tennis from his local club Larmor Plage. He has also won his first competitive match for the Senior Baud tennis club 1st string team in a regional championship.
Seeing Gourcuff play tennis as a potential root out of football is no surprise. As a youngster, he hesitated between pursuing football and tennis, before eventually option for the latter. In 1998, he even took part in the Super 12 Auray Open, competing in the same tournament as Rafael Nadal, which the Spaniard actually won that year.
