RMC are reporting this evening that PSG have made the decision to exclude Adrien Rabiot from any future squads unless he signs a contract extension.
The 23-year-old will be excluded from all squads for matches and this is a decision that manager Thomas Tuchel has given his full backing to.
Earlier this evening, in an interview with Yahoo Sport, PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique gave an explosive account of how he views Adrien Rabiot’s contract situation, with the Frenchman’s current deal of course expiring at the end of the 2018/19 season:
Are you going to continue discussions to convince Adrien Rabiot to sign a new contract with PSG?
At this stage, no. It is a decision that the club has made following a meeting that I had with the player. The player informed me that he will not sign a contract and that he wants to leave the club for free at the end of the season, when his current contract expires. For the player, this will have a very clear consequence: he will remain on the sidelines for an undetermined amount of time.
Are you surprised by this turn of events?
For several months, we have been having positive exchanges with his representative under the guise of signing a new contract. We also accepted all the conditions that the player requested from a footballing perspective. We discussed these conditions so that he would stay with us for the years to come. But, sadly, now, discussions have completely stopped.
How do you feel about it all?
It seems to me that the player and his representative have misled us for several months. I want to add that this situation is disrespectful to the club and the fans. Especially coming from a player who has worn our shirt from the youth academy to the first team. A player who has always had the complete support of the club…
