El Tri suffered a 2-0 loss when the teams locked horns last week but are still hoping to close out the year with a victory
Ring the bell! It’s time for round two.
After Argentina beat Mexico 2-0 on Friday in Cordoba, the two teams headed to Mendoza to face off once again in the final match of the year for both sides.
The match should see each team make several changes, with players they’re hoping are the stars of the future getting a chance to shine.
With the next FIFA date not until March, both sides will be aiming to see out the year on a high and give their fans something to cheer about going into 2019.

Argentina’s interim manager Lionel Scaloni is set to make eight changes, with one of the most interesting being Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli likely getting the start instead of usual No.1 Sergio Romero.
Lionel Messi, meanwhile, continues to be absent from the squad and has now not featured for his country since their World Cup last-16 defeat to France.
Argentina XI: Rulli; Mercado, Funes Mori, Kannemann; Meza, De Paul, Ascacibar, Acuna, Pereyra; Lamela, Icardi.
After a 2-0 Argentina victory over Mexico on Friday, the two teams meet again to close out the 2018 international calendar.
There will be different lineups, with both interim managers looking to give opportunities to players who didn’t see much time in the first match between the two teams. Mexico’s caretaker boss Tuca Ferretti has tried to give opportunities to young players, though those efforts have been somewhat stifled by injuries.
Still, with four Europe-based players heading back to join their clubs there will likely be plenty of minutes for players like Pachuca midfielder Victor Guzman and Santos Laguna defender Gerardo Arteaga.
Argentina, meanwhile, will keep a few players in the starting XI from the last game but will also give youth a chance.
Midfielder Santiago Ascacibar is set to get a chance from the start, along with centre-back Walter Kannemann, who many players on Mexico’s team will know from his time with Atlas. The 27-year-old is seeking just his third cap but is coming off a strong Copa Libertadores campaign with Gremio.
There may be a place in the lineup for Inter forward Mauro Icardi and Tottenham winger Erik Lamela, who is looking to nab a spot on next year’s Copa America squad after a long injury absence kept him out of the national team.
