According to Vittorio Radice, Chief Executive of Italian fashion chain La Rinascente, the retail climate won’t recover before 2012. In an interview for the World Retail Congress Radice gave his view on the current economical climate, and also said only relevant and meaningful retail brands will survive. Radice, who led the reinvention of Selfridges in the late 1990’s and its subsequent demerger from the Sears conglomerate, is set to speak at the Congress in Barcelona in a session on ‘Learning from the best: putting innovative at the heart of business’.
The World Retail Congress has welcomed more than 2,000 retail leaders since its launch in 2007, and this year around 100 retail names from all over the world will speak when the Congress convenes at the CCIB International Conference Centre from 6 to 8 May 2009. The programme has been set in consultation with the industry and the Congress Advisory Board, which includes retailers such as O Boticario to Myer, Mango, Harvey Nichols, Tesco, and Gap.
