Katie Holmes sure knows how to ring in the holidays in style. She goes to holiday concerts, she wears great winter outfits, and she even has time to step out to holiday parties (wearing Old Navy, no less). So of course she has the best family traditions on top of it all.
InStyle caught up with the actress at the holiday relaunch of the toy brand FAO Schwartz in November, and she shared a glimpse into what she’ll be up to with her daughter Suri Cruise this holiday season.
“The holiday season means so much because it’s all about family and making sure that the people that you love know how much you care for them,” she said. “We have so many traditions in our house. We bake cookies, we play a lot of board games, and we hang out as a family, and that’s so special.”

Those home traditions sound pretty fun to us, but Holmes said she’s also always loved the shopping part of the season (with Suri!)

“I loved coming to FAO Schwartz when I was a little girl, and the sheer magic of the store. The size of the toys, the size of the store, there’s a real sense of how important it is to be a child and how special that time in life is. I think that’s such a wonderful spirit that this company really imbues,” she said. “I’ve had many fond memories with people in my family, including my daughter, at this store.”
