National capital New Delhi has undergone a lot of development in the last few years. The arrival of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) particularly has changed the landscape of the city.

Architecture can change people’s behaviour, their psychology, the way people perceive space. Yet one thing that plagues the whole country is poverty and child labour. While people have learnt how to keep metro stations clean by not littering or spitting around, children selling roses and begging at the entrance of these stations is still a common sight.

The Child Labour Prohibition Act 1986 bans the employment of children below the age of 14 in many professions, such as domestic labour, and in the hospitality trade for example in roadside dhabas (restaurants), restaurants, hotels, motels and spas. However, it does not ban child labour in agriculture.
