Netflix has announced a second season for The Haunting of Hill House, which will be delivered as an anthology.
The theme for Season 2 was released shortly after the official announcement, after a teaser on Netflix’s Twitter revealed the details.
Season 2 will be titled The Haunting of Bly Manor, based off of Henry James’ gothic horror novella from 1898, The Turn of the Screw.
James’ story takes place largely at an old mansion and has been adapted numerous times across media platforms, including film, radio, and television.
Along with this announcement, Netflix has entered a multi-year overall television deal for exclusive rights with creator of The Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan, and executive producer of the series, Trevor Macy.

Season 2 will be the next chapter in the The Haunting anthology exclusive to Netflix, but the deal does include other TV projects for Netflix from Flanagan and Macy.
“Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats, but unable to look away,” Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix said. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on The Haunting series and future projects to come.”
The duo have completed six films and a series in their past seven-year partnership under Intrepid Pictures, which will continue producing their projects. Some of the films include, Oculus, Gerald’s Game, and Hush.
“Netflix has been an important part of our story, and we’re proud to have worked with them on The Haunting of Hill House, not to mention Gerald’s Game, Hush, and Before I Wake,” Flanagan and Macy said in a statement. “They’ve enabled and supported a great deal of our work and we look forward to much more.”
Season 1 of The Haunting of Hill House was a modern adaptation of the iconic novel by Shirley Jackson.
