THE BRONX, NY — This animal lover may be headed from the lion’s den to the city pen. Police say they are on the hunt for a wannabe lion-tamer who posted to Instagram a daylong journey of Bronx Zoo antics that included climbing into a predator’s enclosure.
Police are looking for a woman — called Myah Laree on Instagram — who shared three videos of herself over the weekend climbing over the enclosure’s wooden fence and expressing her affection for the two big cats inside.
“I want to get closer to him,” Laree says as she hops over the fences in one of the videos. In another she waves at the lion. “Baby! Hi, I love you.”
Yet another clip shows her dancing in front of one of the beasts.
In captions accompanying the posts, Laree said she was not afraid during her encounter with the carnivorous creatures — even though a man can be heard in one video telling her she’s not supposed to go inside.
The lion that stared her down did not growl or “go into Attack Mode” when she entered his domain, she said.
“I Entered His Home in Peace & He let me Leave in Peace,” wrote Laree, who called herself a “FULL BREED LIONESS” in another caption.

The lions weren’t the only animals with which Laree had a close encounter on her visit to the zoo. Additional videos show her waving at two giraffes — possibly inside their enclosure — and chatting it up with a peacock.
Laree also posted a video of herself dancing outside an entrance to the zoo in a black-and-leopard-print MTV T-shirt with a puff of smoke in her mouth. She notes it’s her “birthday weekend,” though she says her actual birthday was Monday, Sept. 30.
The zoo filed a complaint against the self-described lioness, according to an NYPD spokesman and the New York Daily News, which first reported the development Wednesday
“She is currently being sought as a part of the investigation to address the complaint,” the spokesman said.
But a final photo shows not only did Laree make herself available to police that day, she stopped to pose for a photo with them.
The NYPD spokesperson did not specify what charges might be brought against the woman and the Bronx Zoo did not immediately return a call seeking comment Thursday morning.
Laree did not immediately respond to an Instagram message seeking comment.
