ATLANTA — Chick-fil-A is looking at adding vegan items and even meat substitutes to its menu. Despite the fact that its customers can order salads or wraps without chicken, there are no vegan-specific menu items now being offered. That could change, according to the company’s executive director of its menu.

In an interview with Business Insider, Amanda Norris said the Atlanta-based fast food giant is always aware of what’s trending with customers, specifically, “vegetarian options [are] something we’re looking at, we’re thinking about, and have some [research and development].”

Norris said the company has been studying such items for years but takes longer to implement newer menu items. Burger King is already testing a plant-based whopper, according to Bloomberg.

Norris said Chick-fil-A has fewer menu items and fewer limited-time offerings than chains like McDonald’s, Burger King and others.
