Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode, Blackout, already featured zombies in select areas, but the latest update adds the fearsome Blightfather boss from Zombies into the mix.
Previously seen in Blackout during the mode’s beta stage, the Blightfather will be located south of the map’s Aslyum area in the Graveyard. You’ll know when he is available by a red pillar of light, and Treyarch said in a Reddit post that those who kill him will be “handsomely rewarded.”
Blightfather was originally seen in the Zombies map IX, and can also be fought on the Voyage of Despair map. He’s no pushover, requiring dozens of bullets to defeat.

Blightfather’s only visiting, however – he’ll disappear again on November 13 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK (that’s 5am AEDT, November 14).
The latest Black Ops 4 update also temporarily disables the 9-Bang flash grenade for Blackout as Treyarch works to “evaluate its place in the gameplay loop.” The device has the capability to stun an entire squad, leaving them almost completely defenseless.
Solo and Duos playlists for Blackout have had their maximum player counts reduced to 88, as well, while Quads have been bumped to 100 players. For those interested in completing the mode’s Character Missions to unlock new skins, the characters from the Chaos Zombies storyline are now unlockable via supply drops.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. In our Blackout review, we called the battle royale mode “a remarkably polished and intuitive take on the basic battle royale formula,” and we praised it as the best part of the game in our full Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 review.
