"We've chosen France among the teams ranked second in the Pools" says the President of the FIVB, Dr. Rubén Acosta H. "With Bulgaria already in the final, since it was in the same Pool as the organizing country Poland, three teams had the same number of victories.

According to the last FIVB World League Council decision, we've chosen among the second ranked teams of each Pool. Again, the choice for the FIVB was very difficult: Cuba and Finland deserved a chance, for many reasons. But there is only one spare place and the FIVB final choice is to have France to go for the Finals".

France is the last team to join the group in Katowice, thanks to the FIVB wild card. Philippe Blain's team played 51 sets the Pool B, earning 7 victories, the same games conquered by Finland in Pool A and Cuba in Pool C. In the 2006 World League Final Round, France won the silver medal, losing 13-15 on the last tie break to the gold medal team, Brazil.

The organizer (Poland), the winner of each pool (Brazil in Pool A, U.S.A. in Pool B, Russia in Pool C and Bulgaria, the best of Pool D), plus France as FIVB wild card, will play the Final Round in Katowice from 11-15 July 2007.
