The card for the all women’s WWE Evolution pay-per-view is beginning to take shape. Just this past week, it was confirmed that there will be a Last Woman Standing match between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and it was also mentioned that the event will be headlined by a Raw Women’s Championship match between Nikki Bella and Ronda Rousey. One more title match has been revealed for Evolution. During last night’s NXT UK tapings in Plymouth, Isla Dawn defeated Killer Kelly to earn a match against Rhea Ripley for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. This will be the WWE pay-per-view debuts for both women. The title defense takes place at Evolution on October 28th.
One of the toughest women in all of WWE has got to be Shayna Baszler. The former NXT Women’s Champion has a legitimate MMA background, and is considered one of the Four Horsewomen of MMA, along with Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. Just when it seemed as if Baszler couldn’t get any more intimidating, she was busted open at a recent NXT live event. PWInsider and fans in attendance for an NXT show in Ocala, Florida last night have both noted that Baszler was bleeding during her six-woman tag team main event with Duke and Shafir against Io Shirai, Jessie Elaban, and Lacey Lane. Although officials attempted to stop the match in order to repair the wound, Baszler decided to keep the match going.
When Stephanie McMahon announced that the Evolution pay-per-view would be taking place earlier this year, she originally promised that over fifty women would be competing on the show. Naturally, fans were intrigued by the possibility of former female competitors returning for one more match at the Evolution event. While names such as Trish Stratus and Lita have already been confirmed to appear, don’t expect to see former WWE Superstar Jazz at the event. The current NWA Women’s Champion has just informed her fans via social media that she will not be appearing at Evolution. Despite this, she appears to be on good terms with WWE and did not rule out the possibility of returning someday in the future.
