Maria Kanellis has had a long career in pro wrestling that dates back all the way to 2004 when she competed in the Diva Search for WWE. She was eventually brought into WWE and competed for a number of years. After her time in WWE originally came to an end, Maria would make appearances in NJPW, Ring of Honor, and Impact Wrestling, and she even won the Impact Knockouts Championship as well. Now that she is back in WWE, Maria is interested in winning a championship, but not the Raw or SmackDown Women’s Championships. Instead, Maria Kanellis has revealed that she is actually interested in seeing WWE bring back the Divas Championship at some point in the near future.

I’d bring back the Divas title. https://t.co/Dl64nzfRLZ

I think it would be a great addition to the division. @MaryseMizanin https://t.co/oookhrkZyu

WWE has distanced themselves from the term “Diva” over the years and they also stopped using the Divas Championship in favor of introducing the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships. Maria has defended the usage of the term in the past, and she now is also making a case for the championship to return to television. Maria says that she would like to see the championship join the regular women’s titles for Raw and SmackDown as a third established championship for the women in WWE. Maria has of off WWE programming for a year due to her pregnancy, but she has been training for her return in recent weeks. Time will tell if Maria will return to the ring with the Divas Championship with her soon.

The Divas Champions have value. They are an important part of the Evolution of Women in the WWE. https://t.co/ORugEidGpW

I’d have all three titles. Just like the IC or the US. Why not have several opportunities for women to become champions? https://t.co/48nAglBUKJ

But it wasn’t just models. I was a model but @TheBethPhoenix @MickieJames @RealMelina @Jillianhall1 and more came in as wrestlers. https://t.co/kyDg4EB3yq

There are few people that truly understand what the Divas title was supposed to be. It was supposed to be another title to fight for, just like there are today, not the only title. But people criticize that don’t understand and that’s just ignorance.
