It was a pleasant surprise to see Bobby Lashley return to WWE on the Raw after WrestleMania last month. Lashley had not competed in a WWE ring in ten years before he made his grand return to the company a few weeks ago, and he has continued his dominance in Raw ever since he came back. During his time away from WWE, Lashley continued his pro wrestling career and completely reinvented himself in Impact Wrestling. He quickly became a major star in Impact and was crowned world champion on a few different occasions. What some wrestling fans may not be aware of is the fact that Bobby Lashley also garnered a lot of experience as an MMA fighter over the past few years.
Bobby Lashley has a 15-2 record in MMA at the moment, and he has competed in Bellator MMA’s heavyweight division. Lashley has not competed in a fight since 2016, and it looks like he will not be returning to the octagon any time soon. The latest Wrestling Observer Radio program just revealed that Lashley is prohibited from competing in MMA as a result of his new deal with WWE. Although Brock Lesnar is reportedly allowed to accept UFC fights, other WWE Superstars with MMA experience, like Lashley and 205 Live’s Jack Gallagher, are not granted that same privilege. Bellator has noted that Lashley still remains under contract with them, but it looks like it may be a while before he goes back to fighting.
Enzo Amore had already been a controversial figure in the wrestling business, and that was before WWE released him from his contract over an alleged sexual assault claim earlier this year. Phoenix police announced earlier this week that the case against Enzo had been dropped due to a lack of evidence. Amore’s attorney did tease that his client is looking to reenter the entertainment industry, but it was recently reported that WWE is unlikely to take him back. However, during a conference call, Executive Vice President of Impact Wrestling, Don Callis was asked about the possibility of welcoming the former Cruiserweight Champion into the Impact Zone. Callis gave the following response: “Never say never. You evaluate talent based on need and what you’re looking to do. We have a long term plan for how we engage with talent in terms of who’s gonna be on the roster, what roster spots we need filled, etc.”
