Even with an earnings call that I considered positive, Wall Street didn’t think so. WWE stock fell 94 cents per share today to $13.42.
John Makdessi, who just won in Montreal over this past weekend, will be on two PPV main cards in a row, as he’ll be facing Donald Cerrone on the 5/23 show in Las Vegas. Makdessi replaces Khabib Nurmagomedov, who suffered a torn meniscus in training.
Brian Stann last night on UFC Tonight had very interesting words about Jon Jones. The thing that was notable is that Stann, who lived in Albuquerque and trained with Jones, when he was asked if he was surprised about what happened, said that he wasn’t at all. He indicated he could see things coming and gave indications it was about the type of people Jones was hanging with. Stann pushed that Jones is going to have to change his life because he’s hurt other people, such as the woman in the car accident, and that the cocaine test failure did not change him.
The 5/15 NXT show in Philadelphia is now sold out.
WWE is releasing a movie called “Vendetta” featuring Big Show and Dean Cain on 6/12. Show plays a giant prison convict.
Ronda Rousey will be on UFC Tonight at midnight Eastern time on FS 1, followed by the Conor McGregor reality show. Dana White will also be on tonight’s show and Cris Cyborg and GSP will be on tomorrow night’s show.
Wrestle-1 announced a tournament that will start on 5/16 called “The Road to Keiji Muto” where the winner gets a shot at Muto’s championship.
The World Series of Fighting has fired former UFC star Melvin Guillard, which is no surprise given his issues with the company.
Undertaker, Sting, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan and Paige appear on 8/20 to 8/22 at the Wizard World Chicago
event. Orton (4:30 to 8 p.m.) and Bryan (5:30 to 8:30 p.m.) appear on 8/20. Bryan will also do a Q&A at 8 p.m. Undertaker (3-7 p.m.) and Paige (3:30-7:30 p.m.) appear on 8/21 with Paige doing a 7 p.m. Q&A. Sting will appear 8/22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m..
ROH just got one of its biggest clearances to date with TV in Dallas starting Saturday at 1 p.m. on KXTD-TV.
The U.S. Open wrestling tournament will air on Universal Sports on 5/9 at 10 p.m.
There is an autograph session before a show in Pickering, ONT at the Rec Complex from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. with $5 admission with Kevin Nash, Chris Sabin and Matt Sydal.
Mayweather-Pacquiao weigh-ins are at 6 p.m. Eastern tomorrow.
