Bobby Roode just recently won the United States Championship on a recent episode of Smackdown, but he is already set to defend his title. Much like when John Cena and Roman Reigns were the titleholders, Bobby Roode has announced that he will host an open challenge for the US Championship at the Royal Rumble. This would presumably only be eligible to Smackdown stars, but that was not specified. The open challenge title match will be taking place on the Kickoff show. The Royal Rumble pay-per-view will be taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this Sunday at 7pm ET, but the two-hour Kickoff show will be starting at 5pm ET.
Who will it be?
Who will answer the first EVER #Glorious #USOpen Challenge at #RoyalRumble?
You’ll have to tune into the Kickoff to find out. The door is open, who’s going to walk through it? #USTitle

WWE produces numerous documentaries and DVDs every year. These specials usually peel back the curtain just far enough to allow fans to get a glimpse of what it’s like backstage in WWE. We’ve seen WWE 24 specials on the network about WrestleMania 30, WrestleMania 31, and WrestleMania 32 in the past. Unsurprisingly, WWE has revealed that the next WWE 24 documentary will be about WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida last year. WWE has posted a short clip of the documentary, which features Alexa Bliss visiting Camping World Stadium as she describes how surreal it is to finally be involved in a WrestleMania match. The special airs on the WWE Network right after the Royal Rumble goes off the air this Sunday night.

NXT Takeover: Philadelphia could prove to be WWE’s best show of the weekend thanks to some of the matches announced for the card. An Extreme Rules match between Aleister Black and Adam Cole, a match between Kassius Ohno and The Velveteen Dream, and a main event with Johnny Gargano challenging Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Championship has definitely given NXT fans a reason to look forward to the show on Saturday. However, WWE has just announced that Roderick Strong will be taking on WWE UK star Tyler Bate during the show as well. Unfortunately, the match will not be airing until the following week’s episode of NXT, but that match could steal the show right out of the gate.
