The WWE announced today on their website that they have officially sighed Lio Rush to a contract. The statement on the long rumored signing can be found on their website.
Rush was recently part of Ring of Honor where he won last year’s Top Prospect Tournament, defeating Brian Fury in the finals. Rush was last scene in ROH ending his feud with The Rebellion and was part of Search and Destroy with The Motor City Machine Guns, Donavan Dijack, John Greshem, and Jay White.
As mentioned in the WWE’s statement, Rush is a former tag team partner of “Velveteen Dream” Patrick Clark. The duo won the MCW tag team titles together in 2015 when both men were just starting their wrestling careers. Rush has also competed for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Combat Zone Wrestling in the past.

Lio Rush coming to the WWE has been rumored since he gave his notice to ROH officials back in March. As we have seen with other big signings for the WWE, it takes many months for the process to get going on signing stars off the independent scene. Between working out the rest of their promised independent shows, it takes time to do the proper medical testing and screenings the WWE likes to do with these competitors. It is being said that Rush will report to NXT when he starts with the company.
