2017 has been a year filled with numerous Ring of Honor stars all making the jump over to WWE. We have seen Nigel McGuinness, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and more all debut in NXT, and we still have Donovan Dijak and Lio Rush rumored to be joining soon as well. However, one of the biggest defections from Ring of Honor has been Adam Cole. Cole is a three-time ROH champion and he has been rumored to be coming over to WWE for months now. Cole was kicked out of the Bullet Club and left ROH earlier this year, he has been a free agent in wrestling ever since. So what will Adam Cole’s next move in his wrestling career be?
It appears that Cole is finally going to be making his long-rumored WWE debut very soon. It was reported earlier today by PWInsider that Adam Cole has signed with WWE. The plan is to have Cole debut for the NXT brand very soon and work there while he begins training at the WWE Performance Center. After leaving ROH, Cole became a free agent and stayed that way for a while. Cole was one of the most sought-after free agents after leaving ROH, supposedly receiving a look from the likes of WWE and GFW. Despite this, Cole has decided to apparently sign with the biggest wrestling company in North America and he will be positioned as one of the top stars over in the developmental brand.
The signing has not yet been confirmed by WWE or Cole, but that is likely because both parties are working to keep the news a surprise. At past NXT Takeover shows, we have seen the likes of Bobby Roode, Kota Ibushi, Drew McIntyre and Asuka all sitting in the crowd during the show. This has led to most of them performing on NXT not long after that. NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III is this Saturday night, so it could be the place where Cole makes his long-awaited WWE debut. Adam Cole said goodbye to Ring of Honor in May and WWE supposedly wanted to sign Cole immediately, but they couldn’t due to an issue involving WWE supposedly tampering with certain ROH wrestler’s contracts.
