As previously reported, according to a recent article in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it has been “almost unanimous” in the backstage opinion that Renee Young was doing a better job in the color commentator role than Jonathan Coachman. Couple that with the fact that the company is pushing diversity in these roles and having Renee Young there supports The WWE’s position with women which ultimately led to Young securing a permanent role at the announce table.
The move to promote Young wasn’t a last minute decision as Kayla Braxton, who was down in NXT, was called up and is doing the backstage TV interviews that were previously being done by Young before the announcement was even made.
