As reported earlier, Bret Hart is scheduled to give a promo on Vince McMahon for “Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night” tonight on Raw. It will actually be a new tape of him and not from his DVD. What happened is that WWE cameras filmed him outside a gym in Hawaii. The idea was for him to act like he was surprised that a camera crew found him and act like he was blowing them off. He then cuts an on-air in-character promo on Vince McMahon.
There will probably only be 8 or 9 matches on tonight’s Raw, all interpromotional. The winner of each match gets to bring over a wrestler from the losing wrestler’s brand. Considering that only 7 or 8 matches are being held (maybe even less because there’s going to be a ton of people on hand for Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night), you would think that that’s the amount of people changing brands. That is actually not the case as there is going to be more roster moves after the show. On this weekend’s edition of Heat during the Victoria vs. Mickie James match, Jonathan Coachman said that there would be trades after the show on WWE.com. Considering that the victors of the matches are the ones doing the selecting, you’d think that they’d want the best possible wrestlers on their brand, thus meaning that only upper-tier wrestlers are going to be changing rosters during the show. The trades after the show will likely involve wrestlers on the low end of the totem pole in WWE. It’ll probably be similar to 2005 where all the major players changed brands on television and the likes of Mark Jindrak, Simon Dean and The Bashams quietly changed brands via WWE.com.
Northeastern indy wrestler J.D. Michaels, who may be best known as April Hunter’s husband, is scheduled to get a WWE tryout today or tomorrow. He was briefly in OVW a few years ago on his own dime.
