L’Équipe report this evening that Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba is set to sign for Lens, with the final details over the €5m deal having now been ironed out between the two clubs.

As previously reported by La Voix du Nord, Samba had been the Artois club’s transfer priority this summer, with veteran Jean-Louis Leca, 36, entering the final year of his contract and number two Wuilker Faríñez expected to leave.

The former Marseille and Caen man had been with Forest since 2019, and was the hero in this past campaign’s Championship play-offs to earn his club promotion, having also kept 14 clean sheets over the course of the league season.

The 28-year-old will arrive in Lens tonight and undergo his medical before putting pen to paper on a 5-year contract to play under Franck Haise. Samba also had offers from Fulham and a top 7 French club, as well as an extension offer from his current club.
