Late last night Chelsea made a €41m offer for PSG’s Brazilian international defender PSG. This offer is understood to have been rejected by PSG.
Despite the fact that David Luiz is not expected to be a starting central defender for PSG this season, as he is currently behind Thiago Silva and Marquinhos in the hierarchy, PSG manager Unai Emery is still counting on David Luiz due to the high number of matches PSG are expected to play this season, according to L’Équipe.
David Luiz is understood to be disappointed in losing his place in the PSG team, and has in recent days been open to leaving the club and specifically in recent hours open to rejoining Chelsea. But after this rejection on the part of PSG of Chelsea’s offer, David Luiz has told club insiders that he has no intention to force his way out of the capital.
According to French daily Le Parisien, negotiations are still ongoing between all parties, and PSG’s definitive position on potentially selling David Luiz is not yet known.
It is however very unlikely that PSG will agree to let David Luiz go without finding a replacement, which on transfer deadline day is a very difficult thing to do.
