BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Have you been curious about who will be hosting the Emmys this year? Well, don’t hold your breath because the answer is: nobody. Following in the footsteps of the Academy Awards in February, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier confirmed Wednesday that the Sept. 22 ceremony will be held without a host.

“You have to look at tradeoffs,” Collier told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s gathering in Beverly Hills. “If you have a host and opening number, that’s 15 minutes you don’t have to celebrate the shows. Our production team has had to balance those tradeoffs. I think it will give us more time to honor those shows.”

He noted that television is giving final send-offs this year to shows such as “Game of Thrones,” “Veep” and “The Big Bang Theory,” and show producers determined that “spending more time on those was the right thing to do.”

He also cited a boost in ratings for this year’s Oscar telecast, which went without a host when comedian Kevin Hart backed out of the gig following criticism of past homophobic jokes.
