The 76th annual Golden Globe Awards is shaping up to be a star-studded affair, as nominations for this year’s top film and television categories were revealed early Thursday morning, Dec. 6. Films like “Black Panther,” “Mary Poppins Returns” and “A Star is Born” prove that blockbusters are dominating the 2019 awards season. Golden Globe winners will be announced on January 06, 2019.

In film, the Dick Cheney biopic “Vice” leads with six nominations, including best actor for Christian Bale’s critically praised performance in the title role. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” remake follows with five nods, with blockbuster movies like “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Disney’s “Black Panther” and “Mary Poppins Returns” added in to the diverse pool of nominees.

“The Assassination of Giani Versace: American Crime Story” dominates categories in television as the Ryan Murphy show earns four nominations total, including best supporting actress for Penelope Cruz and best actor for Darren Criss. As with last year, streaming services will also have a big presence at the Globes. Netflix shows like “Glow,” “Ozark” and “The Kominsky Method” all scored noms, with Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and newcomer “Homecoming” making the roster too. Julia Roberts earned a nom for best actress in the latter, adding enormous star power to the mix. Nominations for “Will and Grace” and “Murphy Brown” prove that cable revivals can still be done.
