LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Columbia’s Madison Gott and North Dakota State’s Jacquelyn Sertic earned Louisville/Slugger NFCA Division I National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played March 12-18.
Gott had an amazing week for the Lions. The senior hit .474 with three home runs and eight RBI. Two of her long balls were game-winning two-run shots in the top of the eighth. Those homers broke deadlocks and sent Columbia to consecutive Ivy League victories at Penn. She also homered in the series finale. The Ivy League Player of the Week drove in two runs in all three league contests and two more in a 5-0 win at Cal State Fullerton. Gott registered multiple hits in four of five games, including three in game one versus the Quakers. Additionally, she scored five times, slugged 1.000 and recorded a .524 on-base percentage.
Sertic was a workhorse for the Bison, picking up five wins and striking out 54 batters as NDSU went 6-0 in California last week. She twirled three shutouts, including a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts against Monmouth. Sertic added two-hit (12 K) and three-hit (11 K) shutouts against Fairfield and Loyola Marymount, respectively. The Summit League Pitcher of the Week added four-innings of scoreless ball with 10 punchouts to earn the win in her second appearance against Monmouth. For the week, she posted a 1.11 ERA and held opponents to a .132 batting average in 31.2 innings of work.
