LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Madison McPherson of Marion County (Buena Vista, Ga.) High School garnered the first MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week honor for the 2016-17 season.

McPherson put forth a dominant performance in the circle as the Eagles improved to 6-0 with four wins last week. The senior southpaw went 3-0, did not allow a run and struck out 38 over 18 innings of work. The latter contest was a five-inning no-hitter in which she fanned 10 and walked three. For the week, she surrendered six hits and opponents hit just .096 against her.

McPherson also chipped in at the plate, recording five hits, two of which were doubles, knocking in four runs and scoring five times. She went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI versus Crisp County and also registered two runs and two RBI against Early County.
