LOUISVILLE, Ky.- In the midst of postseason play, Mission Viejo (Calif.) and Alexander Central (Taylorsville, N.C.) maintained hold of the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in this week’s poll while Pioneer (San Jose, Calif.) moved up to No. 3.
Sam Houston (Lake Charles, La.) enters the poll at No. 22 after it defeated Alexandria (La.), St. Amant (La.), and Dutchtown (Geismar, La.) and captured the Louisiana 5A Championship, its fourth title in five years.
St. Amant (La.), Reed (Sparks, Nev.), West Orange (Winter Garden, Fla.), and Mount Carmel Academy (New Orleans, La.) all suffered losses and fell out of the top 25. Postseason continues this week for many states.
The USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 will be released every Thursday through June 11.
State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to help compile the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25. Records for this week’s poll include all games played through May 4.
