According to Foot Mercato journalist Manu Lonjon, former PSG and Levante defensive midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has been in talks with Ligue 1 side Marseille about a possible free transfer.

Sissoko has had his contract terminated by Shanghai Shenhua when it emerged that the Chinese outfit had too many foreign players and had to let the midfielder go.

Marseille in the meantime are looking for a defensive midfielder with Lassana Diarra and Alaixys Romao likely to leave the club at the end of the season and with Marseille President Vincent Labrune wanting to terminate the loan of Lucas Silva of Real Madrid, who has been terrible over the course of this campaign.
