As previously reported, WWE has contacted several legends about appearing at the Money in the Bank PPV. Recently, another name was added to the list of legends that was contacted. Larry Matysik who was a TV announcer from 1971 – 1983 was the legend that was recently contacted to appear.
Matysik would have made his first appearance in a WWE Live Event in more than 20 years but he was called back and the offer made to him was withdrawn. The reason WWE gave Matysik was since he is using a power wheelchair, WWE told him that they would not be compliant with the building’s fire code.
However, that is not the case with all the new and modern arenas, so it’s a bit unclear why Matysik’s name was really removed. One usual reason with past experiences is that younger talents especially the heels end up bullying these old stars. It is possible that WWE didn’t want to take the chance with Matysik being in a wheel chair and all as it would come across looking bad and even worse if any sort of physicality happened.
There is backstage news going around that it was Vince McMahon who immediately had Matysik’s name removed from the list of legends.
