Hugo Lloris: 6
With Scotland failing to have a shot on target in the whole game, the captain was largely untested in between the sticks, and got a good view of a good performance from his side at the same time.
Bacary Sagna: 7
A good performance from the right back, who supplied the cross for the first goal. Like many other players in this side, tonight will be a much wanted confidence booster ahead of the opening game of Euro 2016 against Romania, with Sagna especially coming into form at a good time.
Adil Rami: 6
After his shocking performance against Cameroon, Adil Rami was solid in the heart of defence. Whilst he didn’t have much to deal with throughout the night, Rami will be happy with the fact that he has furthered his defensive partnership with partner Laurent Koscielny.
Laurent Koscielny: 7
A goal and a clean sheet is basically a perfect game for a centre back, and the Arsenal man will be delighted with his performance this evening, and in the run up to the Euros.
It was a solid, commanding and powerful display, and I can see him being one of the defensive stars of the tournament, and with Koscielny and Rami developing more and more as the days go by, France’s defensive worries aren’t looking so bad after all.
Patrice Evra: 6
After a shaky showing against Cameroon, Evra was able to thrive during a match where he was not required to defend constantly. Evra has always been class at combining defensive work with attacking play, and he was a constant threat throughout the game.
Paul Pogba: 6
Everyone is expecting Pogba to come of age in this tournament, and every time he has lined up the French midfield, he has delivered emphatically. He may not have gotten onto the score sheet, but he was stringing some clever passes together, and throwing in some trademark Pogba flair along the way never hurts.
His confidence in this side is amazing, and he has complete belief and faith in everyone around him, even if he must marry his flair with focus, as he was responsible for throwing the ball away needlessly at times.
N’Golo Kanté: 7
The Leicester City star knew that tonight would be a key night where he could stamp his authority on the defensive midfield position, vacated by the injured Lassana Diarra, and he commanded the game was usual ease.
He broke up the play well, and he covered so much ground it was unbelievable that one man could have so much power and energy in such a frame.
Kanté is the perfect replacement for Diarra, who will be missed, but Kanté will fill the void left by Diarra brilliantly.
Blaise Matuidi: 7
Like his partners in midfield, Matuidi controlled the game with purpose and power, as well as getting on the end of the some good attacking moves, and getting into good goal scoring positions.
Like Kanté, Matuidi is a player who could run miles and miles and still have energy left for a 90-minute game of football. Tonight was a good example of how Matuidi can play when he is fully fit, but the opener against Romania will show his full capabilities.
Kingsley Coman: 6
After his performance against Cameroon, it was good to see the young Bayern Munich star get another chance at staking a claim for a starting berth, he didn’t have as much of an effect as he did against the African side.
Coman will be lucky to get a place in the starting XI against Romania, but through no fault of his own.
The winger asserted himself in both games against Cameroon and Scotland, but because the other options in the squad have made a lot more important contributions to games, Coman may miss out.
Dimitri Payet: 8
It seems that with the return of Anthony Martial and Antoine Griezmann, Payet might be made to sit on the bench, but the former Marseille star always comes up with key moments.
Against Cameroon, he scored a magnificent free kick, and tonight he ran the attacking play, and was outstanding on the ball. If the West Ham Player of the Year, it will be incredibly harsh, but still a great option to have off the bench late on in games.
Olivier Giroud: 9
What a way to respond to critics! Giroud’s double tonight means that he has scored 7 goals in his last 5 games for Les Bleus, but it’s not just the goals that made his performance good tonight.
He brings others into play a lot of the time, and his movement is incredibly underrated. These last two performances have all but secured Giroud of his starting place against Romania, and could be one of the players aiming for the Golden Boot.
Substitutes:
Antoine Griezmann: 6
Coming on at half time for Coman, Griezmann put in a good showing in his first start for France since his Atletico Madrid side lost the Champions League final. In a second half where no real clear-cut chances were created, Griezmann applied himself well, getting some stinging shots on target.
The final place in starting XI will be between Payet and Griezmann, but it’s down to the squad training to make an impression.
Anthony Martial: 6
After coming back from a hamstring injury, Martial had the chance to shine in the second half, and caught the eye with a great mazy run past three Scottish defenders.
It’s a shame that he couldn’t convert the chance, but he may have a job on his hands when it comes to starting the opening game. If he impresses in training, he may get a starting birth but only time will tell.
Andre Pierre-Gignac: 5
Replacing Giroud after tonight was always going to be tough, but Gignac didn’t really get anything to feed off in the second half. It seems as if he won’t be starting due to Giroud’s form, but all Gignac can do is keep on his toes in case of anything happening to Giroud.
Lucas Digne, Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sissoko were not on the pitch long enough to make a substantial impression.
