Dean Ambrose is set to defend his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz at Extreme Rules this Sunday. The gimmick that this match has is that Ambrose can lose the match and his title if he gets disqualified. The Miz and Dean Ambrose have been feuding over the title for a while now, Ambrose even won the belt from The Miz to begin with on Smackdown last year. It appears that Ambrose is indeed scheduled to drop the title this weekend to The Miz, but it will be due to the stipulation of the match coming into play.
It’s usually common for The Miz to have his wife Maryse interfere during his matches, but unless she’d be willing to beat up her own husband so that he can win the title, that isn’t going to happen. Instead, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes that “The Drifter” Elias Samson will attack The Miz during the match, thus winning the latter the championship in the process. Dean Ambrose fought Samson in his in-ring debut a few weeks ago, but The Miz attacked “The Drifter” in order to cost Ambrose the victory. “The Drifter” sang about “an eye for an eye” in his song this week, thus reaffirming suspicions that he will involve himself in the match.
Elias Samson is apparently not going to be fighting for the title after this. Instead, it appears that Elias will then move into a feud with “The Lunatic Fringe”. Elias Samson is still new to the main roster, this would be his first major feud on Raw. The last time that a someone lost their championship due to a disqualification was when Randy Orton lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Christian back in 2011, so it’s not exactly anything that we haven’t seen before. The match between The Miz and Dean Ambrose will be taking place this Sunday at Extreme Rules in Baltimore, Maryland.
