Le Parisien report that it was the Emir of Qatar who personally desired the hiring of Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new manager, after the ex-Tottenham boss left a good impression on the PSG owner during an autumn meeting in Doha.

During a meeting that had been scheduled for several months, Pochettino was able to lay out his footballing vision and about what he wanted from a team with conviction, in a meeting that led to the Emir being convinced that “Poch” was the right man for the job.

Pochettino is a former PSG player, having worn the club’s colours between 2001 and 2003.
