Makayla Welch of Cambridge-Isanti has been awarded the inaugural Ms. Minnesota – Wrestling Award as the top senior female high school wrestler in the state.
Welch had quite the year on the mat as she was a constant in the varsity line-up for the Bluejackets from 106 to 120 pounds. She is a five-time Minnesota Girls High School State Wrestling Tournament champion and also recently earned All-American honors at Girls Folkstyle Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Welch garners a 3.65 GPA and has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle for King University in Bristol, Tenn. this fall.
Recipients of the Ms. Minnesota – Wrestling Award receive a certificate to commemorate the achievement along with a monetary gift.

Ms. Minnesota – Wrestling is an award created by MN Girls Wrestling with the sole purpose of promoting and recognizing annually, the top senior female high school wrestler within the state of Minnesota.
